An explosion of vivid colour, lively spirits and intricate detailing, Stella McCartney stood out to me as the perfect SS16 celebration. Intense shades, red blue and yellow added a burst of life and an upbeat energy to the collection emphasized through perfect stripes, checks and pleats.
Rather than sporty, I would describe this beautiful collection as breathable, confident and playful – everything spring/summer should be and feel.
Skillfully constructed, the garments where full of movement, and incredibly feminine with the use of complex cutaways, making pieces a little sexy. There was a refreshing balance of fluidity and sculpture as the collection was relaxed yet strong through cheerful colour, texture, shape, and deconstructed tailoring. This collection was definitely a celebration of women – fun and strong.
My favourite look has to be the sensational off the shoulder stretch top with the side cut out, paired with those lovely crisp-white, cropped trousers. Divine! Another favourite was the stunning black dress detailed with swirls of white ribboned embroidery, teamed with a statement black clutch bag. Oh, plus the cobalt blue, one shoulder cut out dress! Utterly amazing.
