All that glitters isn’t gold… its shimmering silver (well, there was a fair amount of gold, too). The red carpet was however dominated by a shiny silver colour palette with hints of gold tones, citrus yellows and romantic rose pinks. There was also a lot of glitz at this year’s Golden Globes – sparkling embellishment and applique, statement jewellery, exposed shoulders and plunging necklines.
I must admit, this year’s Golden Globes ensembles didn’t wow me as much as last year’s. Possibly because the always-chic Kate Bosworth wasn’t present? She always looks amazing and was my definite favourite last year (still lusting after her after party Dolce look). I mean, there were a small few that I loved but certainly others that I just didn’t.
I can’t really choose my favourite between Emma Stone’s dreamy, delicately pleated Valentino gown embellished with glittering, silver stars or Nicole Kidman’s beautifully detailed, glass beaded Alexander McQueen ‘silver wave’ gown – I loved both. Nicole’s dress would even look just as lovely without the silk tulle ruffles on the sleeves. Oh, and Millie Bobby Brown looked absolutely adorable in her silver sequinned Jenny Packham dress and embellished Sophia Webster shoes. (Who else is excited for Stranger Things season 2?!)I actually kinda liked something about Natalie Portman’s canary, yellow Prada gown. It was fairly simple yet quite detailed with the use of elegant white and silver embellishment across the hemlines. I would probably like this more as a pretty mini dress for summer, though. For me, Chrissy Teigen won best dressed at the Golden Globes after parties in her beaded black J. Mendel dress (LOVE that velvet panelled 70’s style scarf) along with Kendal Jenner wearing Paule Ka and Zoey Deutch wearing an ornate Fausto Puglisi dress.I now can’t wait to see what everyone is wearing at the Oscars…
